Alexander Gurevich, a Russian-Israeli dual citizen, has been extradited from Israel to face U.S. charges related to the $190 million Nomad bridge exploit. The suspect allegedly exploited vulnerabilities in Nomad’s cross-chain protocol before attempting to negotiate a partial fund return and reward payment.

Israeli authorities apprehended Gurevich during an attempted flight to Russia. The case represents one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts since the 2022 bridge attack epidemic that saw over $2 billion stolen across various protocols.

Blockchain analytics reveal the Nomad attacker used sophisticated methods to drain funds from the bridge’s smart contracts. The extradition underscores growing international cooperation in prosecuting high-value crypto crimes.
